Courtney and Jeff were married in early June at the gorgeous Lonesome Valley in Sapphire, North Carolina. It was our first time shooting there and goodness, it didn’t disappoint. Take me back!
After each wedding that we photograph, Geoff and I always jot down a few of our favorite things about the day on our drive home. After reviewing my the note on my phone when it came time to write this post, I realized that it was quite full of favorite moments. I’ll share just a few:
+ When we first pulled into the grounds of the venue, it was raining, which was definitely cause for concern for us all given the outside ceremony that was to come (not to mention, I don’t think I would have been able to handle not being able to use the mountain backdrop for their portrait time!). It soon tapered off, but we weren’t 100% sure if it would stay away. Becca and Sarah of Asheville Event Company and Sarah of Lonesome Valley collaboratively made the call to “go for it” and not move everything under the tent. I’m so glad they did, as the rain held off until it was reception time and it. was. beautiful.
+ All of the Lonesome Valley staff were incredibly kind and so hard working.
+ After Courtney’s dad came into her room to see her in her gown, which was emotional in of itself, she gave him a handkerchief with a special message written to him and said to him, “I’m just feeling so fortunate right now to have all of this. Thank you for loving me.” I think that moment will forever be ingrained in me.
+ Prior to the ceremony, I overheard one of Courtney’s bridesmaids telling her to remember to soak in every moment that was to come. Always great advice.
+ The ceremony was really something special. Courtney read the heartfelt letter that she had wrote to Jeff just before going out on their first date. The look on Jeff’s face as she read those words to him was precious…you could tell he felt really loved by her.
+ The toasts at the reception…goodness, I wish I could share a recording of them. They were both hilarious and emotional. I just loved their family dynamic.
Courtney and Jeff – WE are the ones that feel so fortunate…to have met you and gotten to know you both. We are so happy y’all found each other and wish you the very best through your marriage. Love you guys!
