October 1st = goal time

Goals

Yes, here I am again.  Attempting to get back on the monthly goal train.  πŸ™‚
Could I BE more excited for today?  October 1st!  The first day of my favorite three months out of the year.  And, here in Charlotte, we’ve got dark, cloudy skies and are sitting at a cool 63 degrees.  This is what the weather looks like in my version of heaven.
Know what?  I am totally believing that October is going to be a GREAT month.  Really, I am.
1.  Pumpkin Patch.  Per usual in the month of October…especially now that we have a child…we will pay a visit to the patch.  Last year we went to one in Weddington…and it was great…but thinking about venturing up to Mooresville’s Carrigan Farms this time around.  Any other ideas for where to go?
2.  Halloween Costumes.  Let me just say – I kind of hate dressing up in costume.  I mean, it was fun in college, but something about the 31 year old in me despises it.  However, this year, I am (semi) excited for it.  We came up with a great idea that I think Geoff, Boone and I can all get behind.  Anyway, I need to start the search for the costumes…it’s definitely not something we could pull off with the things we have in our home.
3.  Begin “House Hunting 2012 – Round THREE”.  You heard me right.  If we have anything to say about it, we’ll be moving (yet AGAIN – this will be move #3 for us this year if it goes through) by the end of the year.  With baby girl coming in February, I would absolutely LOVE to be settled into something permanent before she gets here.  I think we’ve finally surrendered to the idea that we can’t stay living in the uptown area.  With our housing budget and the school situation, I think we just need to bite the bullet and move to South Charlotte.  We’re looking to stay inside the 485 loop – any suggestions for great neighborhoods to check out?
4.  Branding.  I paid the deposit for our new blogsite last JANUARY with the intent of waiting to begin working on it until after Geoff had tweaked our branding.  Nine months later, the tweaking never happened, as we were too caught up in daily life and work.  At the end of last month I went ahead and made arrangements with professional designer Erica of The Summerhouse to take over the project for us.  Hoping to have things firm by the end of the month so we can move on the website next month.
5.  Blog.  I would really like to pick up blogging more regularly this month.  I know that isn’t a quantifiable goal, but I’m okay with it.  I think what I need to do is take some time to make a weekly blogging plan (using Emily Ley’s free printable blog calendar) and then stick to it!
On the note of blogging, for now I’ll leave you with an image I shot from a workshop I attended last November.  I feel inspired just looking at it, as I remember what I felt like as I shot it.  I’ve been meaning to get these images blogged for nearly a year now….so, that’s on the list for October.  πŸ™‚

It’s just outside the loop, but we’re loving living in Holly Park in Indian Trail! If you need a realtor, we used Brandon HIbbard’s aunt, Bonnie Horneman, and she was fabulous. πŸ™‚
YAY FOR OCTOBER//FALL//CHRISTMAS AROUND THE CORNER!

I grew up in Burkley which is off Providence Road and inside the 485. I no longer live in the USA, so couldn’t really tell you what it’s like now. But my memories of it were really good. Lots of families and lots of shops and restaurants near by. My aunt and uncle still live in Hembstead.

  3. Love that bottom image. I think it screams “freedom” and “surrender”. Can’t wait to see more from the workshop. xoxo
