Carly and Al
Over this past weekend, we had some pretty high temperatures here in Charlotte. Carly and Al’s engagement session was scheduled for Sunday, which was slated for the high to be 100+ degrees. Normally, I would probably suggest we reschedule, but being that Carly and Al live in San Francisco AND the fact that they are getting married THIS weekend, that wasn’t an option.
Geoff and I left the house armed with a cooler full of cold bottled water. The sky? The sky was ominous. The rumbles of thunder sounded. Uh-oh.
As soon as we hopped on the freeway headed to our meeting spot for the shoot….it began to pour. And Carly and Al – who were coming from the opposite direction – were also driving through the pouring rain. Her hair and makeup was done and Al had to head out of town the next day for work. Again, rescheduling was not an option. We decided to push on to our location to see what we were working with. Perhaps we would catch a break?
Did we ever! Seems like we picked the ONLY spot in ALL of the Charlotte region that it had not rained. AND, over the course of the shoot, it got down to 83 (!) degrees! It was PERFECT. We were definitely hit with some serious favor from God that night.
Taking pictures of Carly and Al together was fun. And inspiring. And comfortable. Perhaps it’s because they are photographers (view their website HERE) and know how to “turn it on” for the camera. Or perhaps it’s because they knew they were getting married in a short few days and were giddy with excitement. Regardless of the reason, they needed very little direction and photographing them felt effortless.
Carly and Al – thank you for being so wonderful. Can’t wait for this weekend! π

This shoot was such a JOY. An absolute joy. You two have incredible gifts from God and we are incredibly grateful that you were able to help us capture this special time in our life.
