Year Three: Recap 2010

Weddings

With New Year’s Eve upon us, I thought there be no better time than now to reflect on 2010.  If you’d like, you can view 2009’s Recap HERE and 2008’s Recap I did in 2008 HERE.

1.  Family
This section highlights our biggest life game-changer…..and certainly our greatest accomplishment for the year of 2010.
Last January, we found out I was pregnant and would have a baby in September.  Hello greatest shock of my life. And man, pregnancy was rough.  However, that was mostly because of my craptastic attitude toward it.  (sigh)  I’ll be better next time around…promise.  🙂
Remember Geoff’s animation to announce our pregnancy?
In April we had our ultrasound – even though I was shocked that we were having a  boy, I still loved our gender reveal party and the cute video to remember it. (shout out to Cake Lady Jill for the cake!)

So glad we took maternity photos – I would have TOTALLY regretted it if we hadn’t.  Photo by Rachel Barker of Millie Holloman Photography; hair/makeup by glam goddess Kymm of Who’s the Fairest.
YER_0009.jpgAfter an unexpectedly early and difficult delivery via c-section (read about that in THIS BLOG POST if you like), sweet little Baby Boone was born August 24th, 2010.

Since his birth, our days have been filled with a lot of trials and adjustments, but mostly are just chock full of joyful moments.  We love our little Boone man….our Seep Sheep….our Toasty Guy.  🙂

2.  Business

Clients.  2010 brought us 25 unique weddings to shoot….we kicked off the season in January with Katie and Luke’s snowy wedding day at Fearrington Village in Chapel Hill, NC and wrapped things up this December with Whitney and Matt’s Decatur, GA wedding (not yet edited) at Agnes Scott College.  Many, many, MANY thanks to our awesome clients!

Re-brand.  A major point of growth for our business this year was the creation and launch of our new identity and branding:  Cheyenne Schultz Photography ——–> The Schultzes
All the credit goes to the insanely talented Erica Anne.  Need a designer?  Couldn’t recommend her highly enough if I tried.
Cute new biz cards…YES!

Education.  This year we both made it out to Justin and Mary’s Spread the Love workshop that toured through Charlotte, as well as I attended Lara Casey’s Making Things Happen workshop in Raleigh.  I would recommend both.

Published.  Seeing our work in print never, ever gets old.  Many thanks to the NC Knot Magazine, Southern Weddings Magazine, Charlotte Wedding Magazine and Weddings Unveiled Magazine for publishing our work!
Here’s a spread from Angela and Matt’s wedding published in Weddings Unveiled.

3.  Church

Our church – Elevation Church – has experienced tremendous growth this year.  God is undeniably moving greatly in this city and we are beyond blessed to have the opportunity to be along for the ride.

4.  Travel
2010 took us to some fun places – some old, some new.  We made it to Savannah, GA for Thomas and Rebecca’s wedding, Wilmington, NC for Emily and Michael’s wedding, Chicago, IL for our 3rd anniversary, Greenville, SC for 4th of July weekend, and Kiawah Island, SC for a beach trip with dear friends.
Wilmington – May 2010 (I would basically die for a buttery biscuit right now from the Dixie Grill).

And there you have it…..pretty great year if I do say so myself.  🙂
2011 goals coming soon.

I’m from the Netherlands and by coincidence found your blog when looking for something else on Google. I’m glad I clicked the link because I love your blog, site and everything you put on here. Such an inspiration for what I want to be like when I grow up 😉
One question though: I can’t find the music anywhere that is on you site from Basc. Is he not known by the great public yet, is it something exclusive or …? I would love to but his songs. Thank you!

  7. Cheyenne + Geoff, it hardly seems possible that in just 3 short years, you have truly evolved into such amazing photographers and parents! I have loved your work for a long time but I love being able to see you grow and change. I admire it and hope for the same things for Michael + I. AMAZING! 🙂
